Self-Care in The Outdoors

Here a few tips that help remind me that being outside is a self-care practice. It is so easy to think of it an IG photoshoot. I admit I have to remind myself to be present and think of it as a time of reflection or therapy from Mother Nature. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💥Be Present.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫Remind yourself, “This is my time.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥Remind yourself this is not a time or place to be concerned about vanity⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 It is a getaway from the norms and standards.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫Look up the hashtag #hikertrash; you will see how we look on the trail after a long hike or spending time with nature. Own your look. It is not taken.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥Make yourself a breakfast taco at camp (this IG pic) or bring your comfort food to make you feel at home.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 It is magical when you bring things to make you feel at home.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥 Set-up boundaries with your phone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 Promise yourself you will not post anything until you leave⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 Set a screen time⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫Bring a camera and think of photography as an art.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥Have SMART a self-care goal or goals. Make your time worth-while. Your time is valuable AF. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫Ex 1: “I am here to unplug. I don’t care what anyone thinks of me.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫Ex 2: “I want to learn about something new and outside of my realm. I want to learn about eco-systems, land, geology, etc.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫Ex 3: “I want to spend quality time with my friends, family, or myself.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
